The bible is an eternal book, it tells about the beginning and the end of everything and foresees the unknown future. It’s God’s revelation about Himself and His relationship toward people. The Bible is comprised of 66 books, written by more than 40 authors, over a 1500 year time span - and yet they all complement one another. Altogether they describe the greatest story of love and redemption. The Bible tells how God reaches out to man and gives the gift of salvation, which can’t be deserved (earned?) or purchased.
Throughout time people have tried to prove that the Bible is a collection of myths and legends; but archeologists’ discoveries have only proved the truth of biblical facts. Archeology strengthens the historical authenticity of the Bible. We can confidently say that there has been no discovery that would contradict the Bible.
The Bible differs from other religious books due to its prophesies. Biblical prophesies alone were fulfilled with complete accuracy, and there are hundreds of such prophesies. But still there are many prophesies which are still yet to be fulfilled in the future. One of the most important of these is about the second coming of Jesus Christ. He has promised to come back and take those who believe in Him to heaven.
But also the Bible is a book for today. Reading it, we understand God’s will for our lives. We know how to act in different life situations, how to overcome temptations and trials. Through the Bible God wants to lead us and show us the right direction for our lives.
The best place to begin reading the Bible is the gospels, which describe the life of Jesus Christ.
