Calvary Chapel has been formed as a fellowship of believers in the lordship of Jesus Christ. Our supreme desire is to know Christ, and to be conformed into His image by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are not a denominational church, but we aren’t opposed to denominations as such, only their over-emphasis of the doctrinal differences that have led to the division of the Body of Christ.
We believe that:

The desire of the Creator is to have a relationship with us, for this reason He has created man. Through disobedience and sin we have lost this relationship with the Lord, but He continued to show love to people and designed a way of salvation, by faith, through the sacrifice of the His Son. Now forgiveness and relationship restoration is possible. The Bible tells us that at the moment of salvation we become children of God. We believe that is true and anyone who has received God’s gift of salvation in Jesus Christ is born again and can enjoy a relationship with God. Christianity is all about having peace with God, the blessed hope of eternal life and worshipping God in freedom.

The apostle Paul, when trying to give a reliable source for the foundation of faith, wrote the following to the Romans: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Many people believe in the existence of God, but most of us would agree that very few of them know what He is like, and very few have assurance of their salvation. It is important to have a trustworthy source of information for our faith, because where we get our information is the foundation for the building and growth of one’s faith.
There are many questionable sources of information of what God is like and what He expects from us. Unfortunately often people start building their faith on what they hear from TV or read from the books that are replete with “convincing and logical arguments”. But it is important for us to know that God has revealed to humanity what He considered necessary for us to know about Him and He did it through His word – the Bible.
Therefore if you want to grow in your faith, build and develop your relationship with God in the way foreseen by Him, be sure to nourish your faith from the source provided by God. Jesus said: “You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.” It is the Bible that gives us everything needed for reconciliation and building up a right relationship with God.
Abide in God’s Word, enjoy it, and do not be satisfied with anything less than what God has to say to you through His Word.

At the moment we accepted Jesus as our God and Savior we become adopted children of God (Eph 2:1-3 and John 1:12). Though in this carnal body we are often spiritually weak and feeble, God looks at us as perfect, because He looks at us through the sacrifice of His Son. When we received Jesus we put on His righteousness (Gal 3:27-28). That is why we are justified and righteous before God in His Son. Moreover our body now is the temple of God Himself, the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 3:16). And now that we are called Children of God, we have certain power and privileges (God’s presence, strength and gifts) and at the same time God has certain expectations from us (faithfulness and commitment to Him, willingness to please and to proclaim His love to all).

A man gets saved only by God’s grace. It is only by His mercy, through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, that our souls are redeemed from the slavery of sin. Our salvation, from beginning to end, is the work of Jesus Christ. We simply receive His gift of salvation (Eph.2:8-9). There is a danger for believers to start their relationship with God by grace, but then try to develop those relationships without remembering God’s love, grace and mercy. It happens in particular when, after receiving salvation, we realize that we haven’t become perfect -quite the opposite, we start noticing a display of our sinful nature. In those particular moments we should remember, and rest in God’s grace. God’s love was the same to us in the moment of salvation; it is unchanging now and forever. God’s grace and His mercy for us are unfailing. It is essential for us to stand in this truth. In our daily walking with the Lord, in our ministry it is very important to hold to the truth that our God is God of Grace.

Jesus said: “I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it” Matt.16:18 We know that the Lord does everything for a purpose. Thus God has created the Church for a special reason. The Church was established with a purpose. The word “Church” is translated from Greek as “gathering of people, united by common goal”.
The Christian Church is a gathering of people, united with the goal to get to know God, live for Him, worship the Lord, witness His character and represent Him to those who are around us.
We believe that God, having united believers in the Church, has a plan for His church. What does He expects from us?: 1. Church life should consist of meaningful worship that comes from realizing the greatness of God and His love towards humanity. 2. We should get to know our heavenly Father. God’s plan is that a man would grow in knowledge of God. This is only possible through the study of the Bible, because the Bible is the ultimate source of information about God. 3. A person, who realizes the beauty of God’s love, knows God’s plans from the Bible and has an intimate relationship with God, should share this truth with others. We believe that Church here on earth was intended to be God’s instrument for salvation of unbelievers.
God has foreseen for every believer a place in a local church. He also provided each of His churches with gifts and its way of functioning. But the general desire for all of His churches is worship, growth in the knowledge of God and a work of salvation for the unsaved.

It is very important to know what motivates us in serving people in different spheres of our life. What motivates us when we do something to serve people, in meeting their spiritual or physical needs? Why do we serve people in the Church and those around us? We believe that the only and true reason to serve is God’s love towards people. As it is He who first loved us and put in our hearts love to his creatures – people.
If this is present in our lives, then our goal should be:
1. To serve faithfully, because God desires good for those who surround us. 2. Share love of Jesus with others, because He loves them indeed. 3. Be empowered by the Holy Spirit for fulfillment of ministry, because it’s His ministry 4. All the thanks, acknowledgements and rewards belong to Christ, because everything that is done, was planned by the Lord, fulfilled because of His love, by His power and for His glory.
If we allow ourselves to think that it is we who serve and we can receive the glory, our ministry to God turns into our own activity. It is critical for church to stand on fact that all of us are just God’s instruments, and it is great privilege to be used by God in His work.
